Special Gallery Reception Honoring Wayne Thompson
Artistree invites the public to a special gallery exhibit and reception celebrating the life and artwork of beloved local artist Wayne Merton Thompson (1941–2024). The exhibit will be on display in the Lobby Gallery from April 12 through May 24, 2025, with an opening reception on *Saturday, April 12 from 3–5 pm.* Wayne Thompson was a gifted artist, a long-time friend of Artistree, and a generous presence in the Upper Valley arts community. A regular exhibitor in both two- and three-dimensional mediums, Wayne was known not only for his creative talents but for his kind spirit, encouraging nature, and his deep commitment to sharing art with others. He attended Artistree’s Life Drawing sessions and was one of the original members of the Daily Artists collective. Before his passing in October 2024, Wayne thoughtfully donated much of his remaining artwork to Artistree, requesting that it be sold to benefit the Artistree Scholarship Fund, which supports accessible arts programming for all. Wayne’s artwork will be available for purchase by donation throughout the exhibit. Suggested “valued at” prices will be provided where possible. All proceeds from the sale of his work will go directly to the Scholarship Fund, continuing Wayne’s legacy of supporting creativity and community.
